Missouri U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver II became 60th House Co- Sponsor of H.R. 763. Earlier this year, the CCL-KC volunteer team of Emily Hurley, Jim McGraw, Ruth Robertson, and Dave Mitchell met with Representative Cleaver to discuss HR763, the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. Rep. Cleaver has always been very supportive of CCL's carbon fee and dividend proposal, and during our discussion, he indicated a strong willingness to endorse HR763. CCL-KC has expressed deep appreciation to Rep. Cleaver's staff, both in Kansas City and Washington, D.C., for their ongoing support over the last several years, as well as their work this year in Rep. Cleaver becoming the 60th cosponsor of HR763. Representative Cleaver has a full awareness of the seriousness of our climate crisis, and has been an advocate for this issue, both in Congress, and here with the environmental community here in Kansas City. We are deeply grateful to him for this ongoing support, and CCL-KC looks forward to continuing to work with Rep. Cleaver and his staff as carbon pricing becomes an ever more mainstream topic of our political discussion.
Working with numerous City committees and Councilmen, the Kansas City, MO chapter of the CCL helped champion a resolution by the City Council to support a revenue-neutral carbon initiative. Many thanks to Dave Mitchell, Steven Melton, and many others. Download a PDF of the full resolution on our Resource page.
